Thank you, Tinney! Yes! But I suppose it was just something he could do, right? As THE Renaissance man. :)

Oh yeah. He could paint a little.

Such a remarkable character. I think even more than the image of him as master weapon builder, I love the idea of him as theatrical director and set designer and costumer-- that crazy guy rummaging around the prop room or trying to figure out how to make it snow onstage. Fun to imagine the shows he put on.

Great post-- wishing you all the best for 2024!

Thank you, and the same to you! Leonardo did actually paint a portrait of the duke's mistress, Cecilia Gallerani, while in Milan. "Lady With An Ermine." He truly loved animals...:)

Thank you, Mike! The human factor, right? I love writing about Leonardo da Vinci and all the "marquee" characters like him who play roles in my books. I think it is these personal aspects readers like. Those "who knew?" nuggets. In "The Hearts of All on Fire," Leonardo draws the sketch of a man that helps solve the crime. Having Leonardo da Vinci in the story is fun, but he has to "work." :)
